A stray kitten with a broken leg in the cold night – will he survive this winter?

If you were walking down the street and saw a kitten with a broken leg… what would you do?Here’s what happened.I was eating when I randomly came across a post on social media. Someone nearby said there was a stray kitten outside.
It was really cold that day, and the kitten looked so small and sweet. I thought maybe I could just go check, bring him home for now, and help find him a forever home later. But when we got there, everything was worse than we imagined. The kitten’s leg had been crushed by a fallen electric scooter nearby.
His condition was really bad.
He wasn’t moving. He wasn’t eating.
So we rushed him to the emergency vet.And that’s when we realized how serious it really was.He had two fractures— his leg and his pelvis. One of the broken pelvic bones was blocking his intestines, which meant he couldn’t poop at all.
The vet told us if he couldn’t pass stool, he could literally die from it.The total treatment cost was around $1,000.For a stray animal, that’s a huge amount.Even after the hospital found out he was a stray and kindly gave us a 70% discount, the cost was still about $575.Still expensive. Still overwhelming. But we knew we couldn’t wait.So we talked to the vet and asked if we could at least pay for the exams and overnight hospitalization first, and figure out the surgery costs later. They agreed. And for the first time that night, we finally breathed a little easier. At least for tonight, this little stray was safe.
